AND WE WERE THERE! (See our Feb. 4 Blog)
The Washington Post reported that the day before two substantial snow storms, sales at the Whole Foods stores in the Washington, DC-area surpassed those of the day before Thanksgiving. Frantic store managers rented box trucks or drove their own cars to the warehouse to replenish their stock. The stories were similar at nearly every area grocery store. Deliveries are backed up because governments or landlords were slow to clear roads, parking lots and especially loading dock areas. Washingtonians were buying groceries in near hoarding quantities and were quick to post online photos of empty grocery shelves and to trade the latest intelligence on which stores are stocked.
